"I'm really struggling with how to write this review without giving away the entire book but also still being able to give a good review. I really loved loved loved book 1 and was anticipating book 2 like crazy. Breathe is the crazy amazing finale to Mercs and Effa's story and it really was great...until it wasn't, at least for me. There are lots of things that I loved about this book and about KE's writing. The characters are easy to relate to and you become invested, the supporting characters especially charming and you want to see more and more of them. It's a beautiful love story and with the exception of one major lie, it's pretty easy going. My main issue with this book is regarding Mercs sister and her story line which plays a HUGE part in Mercs and Effa's life. I will not post spoilers in this review, however, I will state that my review rating is because I didn't enjoy the outcome of what happened with her and ultimately it derailed the story for me. I wanted a little more realism and something that tugged at my heartstrings and I thought that piece of the story would be it and it turned out it wasn't. I needed something for them to really struggle over and become closer b/c of it, but because of how that piece of the story ended I was left wanting. I understand why KE did what she did with story, and I was lucky enough to know both sides of the story, but unfortunately because of her creative decision, this just wasn't my cup of tea. That being said, I would still 1000% recommend this book to any and everyone because I think everyone else in the world will disagree with me and love it."
