Johnny comes home from the military with a career ending injury. Johnny’s parents are smothering him and he is struggling to integrate back into civilian life so he decides to move a few towns away to live and work.

Johnny becomes a police officer and he keeps crossing paths with June who is the town Pariah. But where everyone else sees her as bad, he sees her as intriguing.

I have read every book that Lani Lynn Vale has written and this one doesn’t disappoint. She starts every chapter with a quote or something funny and her stories make you feel that the characters are family. She also brings in characters from previous books which keeps you invested in all of her characters.

If you haven’t read anything by Lani Lynn Vale, I encourage you to read this book. You will fall in love with her characters as I have!
