The title of this story couldn’t explain Darren in this book more accurately. He is an absolute tortured soul they is so hard on himself. Too hard actually.
Blossom is a strong heroine, her past is absolutely horrific but she keeps getting up every day trying to better herself.
Darren & Blossoms story spans many years, most of that time Darren is so set in his ways and at times was frustrating to read him hold himself back. His aunt is a great minor character and she plays a huge part, but truthfully is forced to manipulate him in getting him out of his rut.
I always felt Darren had one foot out the door in this story, and the conflict part proved me right. But the reconciliation between them was incredible to read.
Thankfully there is at least one more book to come and I cannot wait to get my hands on it. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book
