Blog Review ~ Lost Love (Cowboys & Angels #1) by Kelly Elliott

Lost Love (Cowboys & Angels #1) by Kelly Elliott

Moving back home to my parents’ cattle ranch in Texas was the last thing I thought I’d be doing.

But, here I stand … in front of my high school girlfriend. A beautiful, confident woman has replaced the young girl I once knew and loved. Hell. I’m still in love with her.

Yep. Paxton Monroe was my first love and the one girl in town who now hated my guts. So much so, Paxton swore her revenge on me if it took her until the day she died. The last words she spoke to me were a vow to cut my dick off and shove it down my throat.

The fight between my heart, my head, and last, but certainly not least, my dick starts tonight. Because all I can think about is how I want to be buried so deep inside Paxton she won’t remember how I broke her heart, or how I left her when she needed me the most.

But who will win? My heart is too broken to listen to my head. And my dick, yeah it’s not listening to anything or anyone. Not until it gets what it wants and what it wants is Paxton Monroe.

Lost Love is book one in the Cowboys and Angels Series

This book sucked me right in.  Kelly Elliott has always been a favorite of mine but this new series I believe will be a favorite.  This first book in the series had all the pieces I want in a story and it left me wanting more.  I cannot wait to see what the other books in the series lead me to.
Paxton and Steed had a love that many only wish for.  This was the perfect second chance love story that had a great cast of secondary characters in it that made the story that much better.

Blog Review ~ All I Am: Drew's Story (A This Man Novella) by Jodi Ellen Malpas

All I Am: Drew's Story (A This Man Novella)  by Jodi Ellen Malpas

You don't need to read the series to enjoy this story. But if you're already a Jesse Ward fan, just wait until you see the advice he gives Drew about falling in love.

I thought I had control. I was so, so wrong...

I don't need a relationship. I have Hux, a decadent club where I quench whatever raw desire I choose. I take pleasure and I give it - no strings attached. So when Raya Rivers comes in asking for someone cold, emotionless, and filthy... well, no man ever takes his wicked pleasure quite the way I do.
Only Raya is different. Vulnerable. And carrying some deep sorrow that gets past all my carefully constructed walls and inexplicably makes me care. Now craving controls me. Ice has given way to red-hot need.
But Raya has no idea about my other life - my real life. That I'm daddy to an adorable little girl. My two worlds are about to collide with the force of a supernova. Once Raya knows the truth, will she be able to accept all I am?

I have so wanted to see Drew get his story and we finally have it. And of course I loved it. Plus I got to see more Jesse. How could you go wrong? Drew and Raya's love story was fun to watch happen. They both kept so much of themselves hidden away that I was waiting for the fireworks to happen and boy did they. They had such a connection from the start that I just couldn't pull myself away and I had to finish this novella in one evening. It was so worth it.

Blog Review ~ Tycoon by Katy Evans

Tycoon by Katy Evans

A sexy new standalone contemporary romance by NYT and USA Today bestselling author Katy Evans.

He wasn’t always this rich. This hot. This difficult.
Aaric Christos was a guy who protected me. Wanted me. Maybe even loved me.
That man is gone.
In his place is the most powerful real estate tycoon in the city.
He’s a cold, ruthless, aggressive businessman.
The only one who can save me and my startup from ruin.
It takes every ounce of courage to put my pride aside and ask for his help.
I didn’t expect him to offer it easily.
And he doesn’t.
Instead, he vets me harder than he’s vetted anyone.
Don’t invest in what you don’t know, he says.
He's assessing every piece of me, to the point I've never felt so bare.
I yearn for the boy I once knew, whose touch once craved me.
Putting it all on the line will be worth it, I tell myself.
Until I realize—too late—that some risks are not worth taking.

Tycoon by Katy Evans was a heart grabbing story right from the start. I loved how it showed the past from both points of view and showed just how much they both wanted each other. Even though outside situations cause them both to pull away they both realize they are better together. This was a book like no other. It grabbed my attention and sucked me in until the very end. And I am so wanting more from this awesome couple. They were so true to life and so honest and open with one another that I just couldn't help fall in love with them.

Blog Review ~ Tainted by Love by Gillian Jones

Tainted by Love by Gillian Jones

My name is Hendrix Hills.
When I was twenty-nine, I fell in love with a girl.
We loved fast. We loved hard.
But our love was tainted.

My name is Trinity Adams.
When I was twenty-seven, I fell in love with a boy.
We loved fast. We loved hard.
It’s too bad my blood was tainted.

Warning: Not your traditional HEA. May contain emotional triggers for some. There will be things that you won't like and some you will, but I hope you have fun finding out!

I cried as soon as I saw those three letters; it couldn't be helped. It brought forth such a rush of memories for me from my past that I couldn't get the tears to stop for several minutes. After a few calming breaths I knew I had to continue and see where the author would go with this story that brought me to tears less than 3 minutes in.

It's been a few days since I've finished and still my heart is broken. Author Gillian Jones wrote a wonderfully written book with an ending that is definitely heartbreaking but it had to happen. The love that happens with Trinity and Hendrix was the best kind of love. There was no judgement; just unconditional love.

Blog Review ~ More Than Need You (More Than Words #2) by Shayla Black

More Than Need You (More Than Words #2) by Shayla Black

Book Two in Shayla Black’s sexy and emotional contemporary romance series More Than Words…

I’m Griffin Reed—cutthroat entrepreneur and competitive bastard. Trust is a four-letter word and everyone is disposable…except Britta Stone. Three years ago, she was my everything before I stupidly threw her away. I thought I’d paid for my sin in misery—until I learned we have a son. Finding out she’s engaged to a bore who’s rushing her to the altar pisses me off even more. I intend to win her back and raise our boy. I’ll have to get ruthless, of course. Luckily, that’s one of my most singular talents.

Sixty days. That’s what I’m asking the gritty, independent single mother to give me—twenty-four/seven. Under my roof. And if I have my way, in my bed. Britta says she wants nothing to do with me. But her body language and passionate kisses make her a liar. Now all I have to do is coax her into surrendering to the old magic between us. Once I have her right where I want her, I’ll do whatever it takes to prove I more than need her.

This book is the second in the More Than Words series. The books are companions, not serials, meaning that backstory, secondary characters, and other elements will be easier to relate to if you read the installments in order, but the main romance of each book is a stand-alone.

This book contains lines that may make you laugh, events that may make you cry, and scenes that will probably have you squirming in your seat. Don’t worry about cliffhangers. HEA guaranteed! (Does not contain elements of BDSM or romantic suspense.)

I read book 1 in this series so I was able to get a little bit of backstory to this book and I have to say I think I liked this book more than the first. It seemed to have more feelings and emotions added to it, plus I loved the music mixed in. Griff was a strong hero that I adored. Too bad I wanted to slap Britta a few times. I just thought she was too tough on him. But no matter what the storyline was well written and kept my attention and it answered questions I had. Now I can't wait for book 3.

Blog Review ~ Night Games (The Storm Inside Book 6) by Alexis Anne

Night Games (The Storm Inside Book 6) by Alexis Anne

Baseball's biggest player is about to get played.

I love women and women love me.
It's not my fault I'm irresistible. Okay, I may be a little cocky too.
All I have to do is post a picture of myself shirtless with my cat, Snickers, and the women flock to me.
It probably helps that I'm good with my bat and balls.

A selfie, a smile, and I have them in bed—but never in a relationship.
Until Carrie entered the game.
She may not know it, but she owns me. And I'm not letting her go.

I'm a professional. No, not THAT kind of professional.
I'm an orthopedic physician for the St. Pete Mantas and my job is everything.
I love the game and I love my players … but I never fall *in* love with any of them.
Especially not players like Wes. Especially Wes.

He thinks life is one big game.
One sexy, romantic, and sometimes sweet, game that’s left me confused and little bit worried...
I may have actually fallen for the ultimate player.

I'll have to beat him at his own game if I have any shot at walking away with my heart intact.

*A sexy standalone romance set in the world of The Storm Inside

4.5 Stars This story is told in dual POV's with different time lines. You don't even notice the difference that is how well written it is. It is the 6th book in the series but it can be read as a standalone. I love sport romances so I grabbed this up and I am so glad I did. Carrie left home at 18 and never went back, Wes grew up in a home where true love was shown. So when the two of these mix together it is a push and pull showdown. It was tons of fun to read and I loved the headstrong characters and even though it was an emotional rollercoaster it was still light-hearted.

Blog Review ~ More Than Want You (More Than Words #1) by Shayla Black

More Than Want You (More Than Words #1)
by Shayla Black

A sexy and emotional contemporary romance series by Shayla Black...

I’m Maxon Reed—real estate mogul, shark, asshole. If a deal isn’t high profile and big money, I pass. Now that I’ve found the property of a lifetime, I’m jumping. But one tenacious bastard stands between me and success—my brother. I’ll need one hell of a devious ploy to distract cynical Griff. Then fate drops a luscious redhead in my lap who’s just his type.

Sassy college senior Keeley Kent accepts my challenge to learn how to become Griff’s perfect girlfriend. But somewhere between the makeover and the witty conversation, I’m having trouble resisting her. The quirky dreamer is everything I usually don’t tolerate. But she’s beyond charming. I more than want her; I’m desperate to own her. I’m not even sure how drastic I’m willing to get to make her mine—but I’m about to find out.

This book is the first in the More Than Words series.

Don’t worry about cliffhangers or cheating. HEA guaranteed! (Does not contain elements of BDSM or romantic suspense.)

Maxon and Keeley I really don't know what to say about them. Keeley was such a sweet, gentle, strong woman who grabbed life by the horns. Maxon was a determined man who just wanted to be the best in his fathers eyes. Too bad he went about all the wrong way. They both were such complex characters that you really didn't know what to expect coming next.
I have always loved Shayla Black's writing style and this book was no different. It captured my attention and held it right till the end. Can't wait to see what happens with the next book.

Blog Review ~ Hard Stick Breakaway Novel by L.P. Dover

Hard Stick : Breakaway Novel by L.P. Dover

He carries a big stick. And he’s not afraid to use it.

On the ice, I’m Kellan Carter, powerhouse enforcer for the Charlotte Strikers. Off the ice, I’m just a regular guy. The last thing I want is to get mobbed by a bunch of groupies who are only after me for my fame and money. My ideal woman knows how to enjoy a little good, clean fun—and maybe some not-so-clean fun too. That’s the kind of girl I’d never let go.

When Kristen Robinson, the gorgeous, down-to-earth bartender I’ve been crushing on, agrees to let me take her out, I’m thrilled. We have an amazing night together, culminating in the most electrifying kiss of my life—and that’s it. Kristen tells me we can’t see each other again, but I know that kiss meant as much to her as it did to me. What I don’t know is that Kristen has a dangerous secret. . . .

I’ve proved to Kristen that she can trust me with her body and her heart. But when her past comes back to haunt her, I need to prove that she can trust me with her life. And I might have to get my hands dirty after all.

5 Stars
This is not a story about hockey. This had so much more to it than I was expecting which made me love it even more. Just enough suspense to keep my attention but also enough sassiness and sexiness to keep me swooning. I've been reading LP Dover for years and this is just another book added to the favorite list.

Blog Review ~ Playoff Beard by Kristen Hope Mazzola

Playoff Beard
by Kristen Hope Mazzola

One attraction – a secret kept between friends for years.

That’s all it took to start one of the biggest love affairs to hit the NY Otters since Gavin and Myla. After getting his heart stomped on by a cheating ex-wife, Will Crosby doesn’t know what he's going to do next, but it's not a relationship. Instead, he throws his entire self into the net, guarding it with his life. After all, he is the goalie.

Everything is finally coming together in his life until the cute bartender with her smart mouth and huge smile gets the better of him, right as the playoffs are around the corner.

Crosby now has to prove himself not only to his team, but also to the girl who has stolen his heart.

This book was by far my favorite. It had all the feels that I love and enough of a storyline that I didn't feel like the story was rushed. I loved the friends to lovers and I also adored how even after they started their romantic relationship they still were friends first. I think that was my favorite thing about the book. Yes Crosby and Jordan had hot sex but there was more to the story. Quick, fun read!

Blog Review ~ Her Surprise Engagement by Ashlee Mallory

Her Surprise Engagement by Ashlee Mallory

Single mom Daisy Sorensen doesn’t believe in fairytale endings—at least not for her. All she wants is to enjoy a much-needed, stress-free family vacation at a friend’s Lake Tahoe home. So of course everything that can go wrong does. Including a gorgeous man and his daughter showing up in the middle of the night.
Soon-to-be Governor Jack Harrison has had a crazy week, but he’s sure nothing can top arriving to find a bathrobe-clad, beautiful stranger in the home he’s staying in for the week. He’s wrong. When things spiral out of control the next morning, Jack makes Daisy an offer she can’t refuse. She’ll pretend to be his fiancĂ©e and he’ll help her open the bakery she’s been dreaming about.
But in between late-night campfires and days on the lake, Jack finds himself falling for the strong, stubborn woman for real.
Each book in the Sorensen Family series is a standalone, full-length story that can be enjoyed out of order.

4 Stars
Her Surprise Engagement was a sweet, simple love story that comes from a fake engagement that is all for show. Too bad Daisy and Jack's feelings didn't get the message that it was all fake.
The characters were likable and relate-able. The storyline was a bit slow paced in areas but it didn't deter me from reading to the end. It was enjoyable to read and I loved all the kids and the quirky aunt also.
