Blog Review ~ Paper Fools by Staci Hart

Paper Fools (Hearts and Arrows #1)
by Staci Hart

Aphrodite knows love — just don’t ask her to figure out her own mess.

Rather than deal with her sticky love life, she toys with the hearts of unwitting humans. It’s a little game she plays, and the stakes are high. Lucky for her, she’s just found the perfect match.

Lex is everything Dean needs, but he can’t have her.

It doesn’t matter that her eyes speak to a long forgotten part of him, or that her art and poetry touch his shredded heart. She’s off limits — crossing that line would implode his band and everything he’s ever cared about. There’s only one option: stay away from her, no matter the cost. Even if the price is his heart.

Dean is everything Lex wants, but she can’t take the risk.

The second she meets him, she knows her heart is in danger. She’s convinced it’s only attraction that has her hung up on the dark, quiet lead singer, but with every day that passes, she knows it’s more. It’s just that she can’t put her heart on the line. She won’t — love has never been worth the sacrifice.

If only they knew they were just pawns in a much bigger game. And in the game of love, Aphrodite never loses.

So, when I started this book and was reading through the first chapter, I though it had happened. I though Staci may have written a book that I wouldn't like too much. And that started hurting my heart, because where Staci is concerned, I wear pretty, heart shaped, Rose colored glasses. The girl can do no wrong to me. Once I got into the story though, It's a different thing all together. It was brilliant.

I have zero knowledge or interest in Greek mythology. Every time my boyfriend puts on a Greek Mythology inspired movie, my eyes roll into the back of my head and I pull out my kindle. So as I was reading through the first chapter of this book, reading about Aphrodite, or Dita, and her pals, Even though it was modernized, I wasn't sure I would get through it. But I did, and I'm glad I did too. This book was refreshing. Definitely different than anything i've read previously.

Switching between the worlds took me a couple minutes to get used to, though. I loved having those duel worlds and points of view. Again, different and refreshing. And Lex and Dean...Whoa. Dean alone is sexy. Especially after you picture him as the cover model. Jeeeesus!

My reviews all are crap, and I never really give anything away, but I feel that's what the book is for. So, even if you're like me and Greek Mythology bores you to tears and makes you want to fall asleep for the rest of the day, Don't worry about that with this book. Staci knew what she was doing for us Mythologically inept when she wrote this.

Definitely 5 stars!!
