“Play for me, Juliet…”
Those four words whispered in my ear again and again until I craved what I used to fear. Such a simple demand from my captor—the man who stole me and refused to tell me why he wouldn’t let me go.
I was his.
He made me need him, just as much as he needed me. I broke all the rules of the golden prison he put me in.
During the day he ruled his dark, seedy world. His subjects and me.
During the night—he bowed before my feet.
Have you ever wondered what happened to the villains in all the fairy tales you read?
You’ll soon find out.
It all started when he kidnapped me and made me his pet.
And it all ended with me…
Calling him master.

Bravo Ladies. You went dark with this one and I couldn't put it down! Control, desire, retribution and sexy times all play themes in Juliet and Donovan's story. So many intricacies and revelations to this story as Juliet morphs from the pawn to the master. Love is found in dark places when least expected, Donovan molded from his upbringing never felt he deserved someone as pure as Juliet, but yet he took her anyway. Juliet became his salvation, his light, Donovan became her obsession and brought her to the dark. Together they would burn down the world for each other. I very much enjoyed this read.
"“Where else would I be? Than with you? When the world is chaotic, I’ll be the calm. When you have nowhere to turn, I’ll be your home . When you think you’re lost and afraid, let me be your map. I’m done, Juliet. I have so much to tell you, but I’m done— finished. This is it. You’re my crescendo after a lifetime of playing.” He pulled me in for a hug, his lips hot on my ear. “You’re my finale.”" ~ Donovan
Dark and domineering from the very first page. There are triggers, there are things that some may find unfathomable. For me, it was a story. A very depraved story, but still a story. If you've read the first, you have a hint of their darkness (Romeo's information gathering...), this book goes that far and then some.
Theirs is a world filled with secrets and lies, some I never saw coming. I'm not going to lie, I didn't like Donovan. At all. The jury was still out on Juliet, I wasn't sure how I felt about her.
I'm not sure when it happened, but the more the pages turned, I started to realize that my opinion of Donovan shifted. I didn't see him as just the depraved, sadistic, monster anymore. He has his reasons, not that they are right or acceptable, for how he is. As for Juliet, I started to like her more too when she started to take back some of the things she could control.
When they finally start to figure out their dynamic, all h3ll breaks loose. The past that haunts him, the future that she hopes for, a mentors agenda revealed and the sacrifice that could end everything as they know it.
